The Heart Beat of Kochi

Kochi is a feeling…
it is a place where trees have heartbeats and roots are like brains that circumnutates where the colour green calms us and where the blue waters hush our sorrows.

What would you say about a location that enhances our lives? It serves as our heartbeat.

Kochi is a feeling… it is a place where trees have heartbeats and roots are like brains that circumnutates, where the colour green calms us and where the blue waters hush our sorrows.
This edition emphasises the special bond that each and every Kochite has with each street and corner. This is also the journey for Cochin Herald as we return to the place where the idea of Cochin Herald was first conceived.

In an era of cell-phone addiction, climate change and urban life, many of us fear that we’ve lost our connection with our history. But we are convinced that the age-old ties linking our present to the past will always remain alive and intact. This edition is a perfect gift which will help you see, feel, smell, hear and taste Kochi. Each one of us is a part of a rich cultural heritage, where conservation and environmental activism is not just about preserving it- it’s about saving our memories, too.

Our historic and contemporary buildings, museums, monuments, libraries, burial sites and sacred places, archaeology, artifacts and archives are all critical aspects in our culture and our heritage. Our living heritage – our traditions, customs and practices – along with our natural heritage, add to the legacy of our ancestors that are part of the identity and cultural life that we share.
As Mahatma Gandhi once said, ” A nation’s culture resides in the hearts and in the soul of its people”. The way our culture appears to outsiders is a reflection of our self-identity, thus we should make every effort to protect it and respect it while also continuing to alter, enhance, and develop it.
